Zero Degree

Zero Degree was a gallery exhibition featuring 18 artists work. My role was to curate the show and manage all aspects associated with it. The title of the show was based off of an iceberg, which contains 90% of its mass below water, unseen. The show was to bring attention to the 90% of work that the viewer never realizes takes place in an artists process. The viewer only sees the 10%, the completed piece.

My piece that was showcased in the exhibition was the role makeup plays in society and upon women. I photographed 20 different people with and without their makeup. The concept was to bring attention to the people we know, but don’t often see. I hoped to empower the viewer and my subject matter by turning their thoughts to the natural beauty that everyone has, yet is afraid to show.
